Understanding Your Curl Type (Type 2A–4C)

  • Type 2A:

    • Soft, beachy waves

    • Minimal frizz

    • Hair tends to be fine and straightens easily

  • Type 2B–2C:

    • More defined S-shaped waves

    • Prone to frizz

    • Can become easily weighed down by heavy products

  • Type 3A:

    • Loose, springy curls

    • Lots of body and shine

    • Requires lightweight hydration

  • Type 3B–3C:

    • Ringlet-style curls (3B) to tight corkscrews (3C)

    • More prone to dryness and shrinkage

    • Needs deep moisture and curl-defining products

  • Type 4A:

    • Soft, tight coils with visible curl pattern

    • High shrinkage

    • Very moisture-dependent

  • Type 4B–4C:

    • Zigzag or tight “Z” pattern (4B)

    • Dense, fluffy texture with less defined curl pattern (4C)

    • Fragile and requires regular deep conditioning and gentle handling
